Remove the three bolts holding the pulser cover (pics 38-39).
Note fibre gasket which you should remove. This
prevents water ingress.
Hold crankshaft with 17mm spanner and undo
advancer bolt with 10mm spanner holding crankshaft
steady (pic 40). Use impact screwdriver to remove pulser
plate screws. There are three and all have washers (pic 41).
Remove pulser unit from housing and wiring which is
held by two clutch cover screws (8mm spanner). A good
fitting socket is a must here.
Slide advancer off (pic 42) noting that it is held in the
correct position by a pin in the shaft. The pin does not
need to be removed in order to allow the clutch cover to be
taken off. The shaft is shouldered which gives the pin
clearance.
Remove the remaining nine clutch cover screws (11 in
total) using a quality 8mm socket. Have a drip tray ready
to catch remaining oil when the clutch cover is removed.
Remove clutch cover complete with advance mechanism
shaft (pic 43).
On reassembly a new advancer shaft oil seal is a wise
precaution.
Pull out bearing complete with lifter guide and pushrod
(pic 44).
For the next step you will need a clutch nut removal tool
(Part No 07916-422-0000 in pic 45), and drive sprocket
holding tool, part No 07725-001-0101 in 46).
Select first gear. Fit sprocket holding tool on to
sprocket and, holding this firm, undo the clutch centre nut
with the special tool. You may need a friend to steady the
engine while you apply the necessary leverage to loosen
the clutch centre nut.
