CBX Stripdown - page 14 (Vol. 52 - February 1992)

- Remove gearshift spindle assembly, moving attached
shift spindle arm out of the way (pic 66), and remove star
shaped drum stopper cam. Pic 67 shows removed
component.
- Remove drum stopper and attach star shaped cam to it
to keep it safe. Remove stopper arm shaft, neutral
stopper arm, washer and spring (pic 68).
- Reassemble all parts (pic 69) back on stopper arm
shaft for safe keeping (pic 70).
- If bearing removal is required, remove the bearing
stopper plate (pic 71) with an impact driver (two screws).
Remove drive sprocket with special sprocket holding tool
and 14mm socket (pic 72). Be careful not to lose O-ring
behind the flange of the bolt.
- Picture 73 shows order of components. Note sprocket
is marked 'outside' to aid correct fitment.
AND that's it for now. The next episode turns to separating
the crankcase halves and completing the entire engine
stripdown. After that we tackle the gearbox and the start
rebuilding the engine.
