Remove the two 8mm headed bolts holding the oil pump
pickup (pic 80) noting that these are of two different lengths.
This is important. A new gasket will be required for the top of
the pickup.
Remove all 15mm and 10mm headed bolts from the
crankcase starting at the outside and working inwards (pic
81). Work in crisscross pattern loosening each one
gradually to keep even pressure on the crankcase.
Remove the large 14mm headed bolt (pic 82) at the rear
of the lower crankcase. Remove all 12mm headed bolts
working from the outside first. Loosen each one a bit at a
time. The three bolts not readily spotted are shown proud in
pic 83. These three do not have washers. NB: The main
bearing saddle bolts all have washers under them, 14 in all.
Lift lower crankcase half off (pic 84).
That's it for now. Next month we deal with the gearbox
and reassembly notes.
