Hi again,
I have a oil leak in the front of the engine. I've replaced the cam cover large seal and the 8 cover bolt seals. Once started I thought I had fixed it until I noticed the tach cable was leaking. So I bought a new tach cable. Ran for 5 minutes with no leak then the new cable started leaking.
I spoke with an old Honda tech and he tells me there is an oil seal somewhere in the cam hold down area (?) that if it leaks it will fill the tach cable and make it leak.
I can't find it on a parts fische. Any thoughts?
thanks!
Maury
ps: I've gone over board now and have a Silver 79, Black 80 and a Red 80!!

Under the small 2-bolt cover with the thread, where you screw your cable to, is an O-ring and an oil seal. They sit on the part called tachometer drive gear, which is No 3 on my parts fiche.
The oil seal is No 10 and the O-ring is No 11. there is also a washer. No 8.
Is that what you are looking for?

That is correct. If memory serves me correctly the seal has a flat side and a hollow end on the other. I believe the hollow end goes in and the flat side is out.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I think you are correct. The flat side of the seal is the "seat" side and it sits against a machined step on the tach drive gear.
