Re: Clutch rattle
Welcome Rohit! Describing noises is pretty subjective, especially if you are not familiar with 'normal' CBX sounds. On many '79s, the clutch rattle can be quite pronounced and even startling to a new owner. The rattle noise will change slightly when the clutch is pulled, but not go away. A very rough running engine will make it worse. You need to get the rest of the engine up to snuff (carbs, valve clearance, timing, good spark to all cylinders, decent compression on all cylinders), things like that first. Then see what it sounds like. We can help more if all those things are taken care of or at least known about.

Re: Clutch rattle
Hi ya, Rohit.
Just like Dave said taking care of some of the other maintenance and the clutch rattle should lessen.
I had close to 90,000kms on a '79 with the stock clutch making all that racket but it still worked perfectly.
I like the phrase..."eye watering sound".

Re: Clutch rattle
A man wants to help put his father's CBX on the road? I'll help with that anytime. Good on ya.
I'm no help with this particular issue, other than to point out that if AFTER you sort out the other tune-up issues you find it is still too noisy for your liking, you might consider a clutch from one of the second generation "Prolink" CBXs, they are a different design and that is a popular (and expensive) upgrade to the early model bike like yours.
You might also investigate your cam chain tension while you're sprucing it up. That's a fast and easy adjustment to make.
Nobody wants to break it to you so quickly, but it's very likely that you will need to do some carburetor cleaning in order to get it to run properly. That is usually the prime culprit in returning a no-runner to the road.
Welcome to the site! I look forward to helping you sort out your bike!

Re: Clutch rattle
Just sent you a couple of emails Rohit with the factory service manual. That's better than my (poor) memory of how to do this.
Good luck!
