Rear shocks different versions. Top adjustment?
Hi guys,
I've seen some CBX-Z with top adjustable rear shocks, and others without the top adjustment.
Which bikes have which shocks? Is it euro/american versions? Year? Or something else?
Thanks for your help

Re: Rear shocks different versions. Top adjustment?
The '79 was non-adjustable damping and the '80 was upgraded to include it.
The smart guys will be along shortly to confirm or deny.
My point of reference being North America only.

Hi,
Yes, the euro models had the adjustable "FVQ" shocks on the '79 (Z) model.

U.S., Canada, General Export and South Africa versions of the 79Z had the non-adjustable top shocks. All others did have the adjustable ones. In 1980 all versions had the fully adjustable shocks.

I think those are bikes not intended for a specific market country. Not that many of them were made and those seem to be the ones that have some anomalies. Black '79s, silver '80s for example.

What I said - black '79s and silver '80s. And as Mike said, kind of a mix and match of features from other market bikes. Like the shocks, rear fender, vacuum fuel valve factory fitted (maybe). It seems that a lot of the 'general export' bikes were among the last '79s made. They seem to have the highest serial numbers.
