Time to repaint my front master cylinder as the paint has been taken off by leaks/spills. On my CB750 I tried epoxy self priming paint but the brake fluid made short work of it when I did get a spill.
I thought maybe hitting it with an etch primer first or powder coating it might be more durable? Any suggestions based on your experience with different paints would be appreciated.

I had mine powder coated. It looks great and seems to be immune to brake fluid.

Careful, Spencer, it is not.
Eastwood used to sell brake caliper paint which holds up better than anything else.

Well, I guess I have not given it a real test, and I don't plan to. It does look good though, and I suspect it is better than paint.EMS wrote:Careful, Spencer, it is not.

Re: Best durable paint for front master cylinder
I have several powder coated calipers on bikes and yes, they look great and are better than most paints. But most powders are urethane based and brake fluid will eat it. I keep a spray bottle with water close by when I bleed brakes or work on the calipers when fluid can escape.

Ok - thanks for the input guys. I am in Australia so most suppliers won't ship flammable goods here. My local shop does have caliper paint so I will try that.
Bottom line seems to be don't spill any brake fluid as it seems nothing is impervious to brake fluid!

Two-three coats wouldn’t hurt either. Say, have you been to Cunnamulla?
