Motion pro valve tool

Post by tevan »

Does anybody use this valve tool to put in valve keepers? If so how does it work? # 08-0166 it says it is for 5.5 mm or bigger but cbx is 5.45. I don't know if it will work.

Terry: I am not sure if this is a Motion Pro. I bought it at Summit Racing. It has reversible heads and the small one works prefect with the CBX.
I take an old 35mm film capsule and cut it to fit into the bore as a protector.

I have one of them but motion pro makes this tool that you put the valve keepers in and you push it down and it installs the keepers easier. Google that part number in my last thread and you will see what I mean. Them keepers are a big pain to get in and I was looking for a easier way to do it. I use a dab of grease on a small screwdriver trick. It works but is time consuming. I just did a head today and I have another one to do in about another month or so. The tool isn't cheap but if it makes the job easier I am all for it.

I know the guys on the CB1100F site talked about the Lisle tool so I search over there and this is the one that was used. I googled Valve stem tool and found it.
This one seems to fit a good range you need. .

Lisle 36050 Valve Keeper Remover and Installer Kit
http://www.amazon.com/Lisle-36050-Keepe ... B0012S61IO

Quickly removes and installs valve keepers on most overhead valve engines with valve stems from 4.5 to 7.5mm and 5/16 inches to 3/8 inches

Sounds like that is the ticket. I wander if anybody on here has used it. I contacted motion pro and they said theres might not work as it is not in the range to fit. It was $120. This lisle one is half the cost. Thanks
