Exhaust gskts

Mornin' all! A little advice.
Recently I purchased some exhaust gaskets that are in the industrial
gasket world a spiral wound gasket (ie, thin strip of stainless, sandwiched
with a filler strip and wound tightly in a circle) My question is, they seem
to be very thick, 0.195", and will the 10mm nuts be able to seat these
gaskets? I'm a little leary, but not a purist that I won't be open to a better
gasket. Whatcha think?

I've used that style on twins, and they sealed quickly and easily. The rub with these inline engines sometimes is slightly ill-fitting pipes that take some coercion to install. The thicker tube type gaskets are a little more forgiving. I'd say try it, and please report back!

I have no idea what exhaust gaskets these are supposed to be. The description sounds a little like the original Honda asbestos gaskets that were wound with wire - which are no longer available, of course

FWIW, I bought new exhaust gaskets from my Honda dealer. The newest part number seems to be 18291-MN4-920. They are copper crush gaskets and seemed to work very well. The closest thing to a problem is that they fit very snugly in the hole. Oh darn, that means I don't have to hold them in with grease or anything else until I get the head pipes and split rings in place.

In my line of business; industrial gaskets, I have access to laminated graphite sheet.
Graphite on both sides with a 316ss foil sandwiched inn the middle. Very high temp,
up to 5000 deg F. In lieu of the spiral gaskets, I may cut my own from 1/8"th sheet.
I'll report back how that goes, after I polish up the exhaust while it's off.
