Finally joined

Post by Neiko1967 »

After a few months of belonging to the other site I decided the more the merrier. I started out buying a CB900 4 years ago that had sat for 15 years with only 2600 miles on it. Best way was to buy a parts bike and sell off what I didn't need. Paid for my bikes. Ended up being a addiction as I am like a Mini-Louis with selling parts for 750-1000 Customs. I finally got my hands on a 1980 CBX with 11K on it 2 months ago. It runs but needs some TLC as it has been sitting since 85. About 3 weeks ago picked up a 1979 Red X that was in a estate collection. This one was rougher and in the process of evalutating everything. A few days before I bought the 79 I had looked at a 81 that had been down and only had 4300 miles on it. Guy wanted $3K and glad I didn't buy it. The day after I bought the 79 he texted me make a offer as he wants it gone. Running out of money fast as you can imagine I had to get my brother in law to go in and bought it for $1500. Don't be afraid to call on those Craigslist ads with no pictures. People just pass them buy but it helps talking down the price. So I am now owner of 2.5 CBX's which is pretty muched booked me up for the winter. My BIL and I are working out a deal to have him buy me out so he can have it. I am going to be more of a pain then a help to anyone so Thank You in advance.

Welcome Jim! Sounds like you have your hands full! If we can be of any help, just holler. But it looks like you have your bases covered, mainly the parts sources, as you are not a stranger to the greater Honda DOHC community!

Hi ya, Jim.
Short riding seasons give us lots of time to wrench.
Feel free to use my line..."it is a project, not a parts bike".

I'm happy to see another CBX interested person in the area. There are several CBX people in the twin cities area, and a few more in the outlying area, like me, so don't be afraid to ask for help.
