Honda's seals ran out last year. David Silver does not have. CMSNL has the part listed, but has not yet responded to inquiries re availability. Aftermarket seals are available but require modification of the shock bearing to fit as they are thicker, but also they may not be as durable as they are mostly torsional seals.daves79x wrote:The stock shock WAS rebuildable - Honda discontinued the seal. I guess I was misunderstood in that last post. Not the first time.
The shock on my '82 is not leaking or anything, but stock Honda shocks, like most everything else, have come a long ways since '82.
I guess no one here has done any experimenting with what other newer shocks, ones that might possibly be found at a reasonable price, might work well on the Pro-Link CBX...

Newer shocks at a reasonable price would be the Progressive Suspension shock. If you feel the need to adjust the pre-load on the spring, it takes a spanner wrench and it is extremely difficult to get to. Older Works Performance-ditto. I've seen some new shocks with a remote preload adjuster that makes it a snap. They're usually $800 and up.
