cbx salvage into bobber??

Post by circuscbx »

I know that the purists among us (myself included) might cringe at this, but hear me out.....one of my 82s was damaged in a bizarre accident when a semi hit it on a trailer on the interstate at 2 a.m. It was salvaged, and the damage is all to the rear. I was thinking of bobbing it out and ditching the traditional rear. The bags were trashed, as were all of the mounting brackets, the rear cowl, the seat, etc. I am thinking that for the cost (and headaches) of finding replacement parts, I can customize the bike, maybe come up with a new paint scheme, put on a wide rear tire, and have a little fun with this classic bike. I already have another 82, stock mostly, so its not like I am giving up altogether. maybe i am just a little bi-polar??
for every mile of road, there are two miles of ditch!

Go nuts, Circus and i don't mean that in a bipolar kind of way.
Customize it any way you want. The fact you are repairing/restoring/bobbing the bike instead of parting it out is the important part.

I think the real reason you like them George is because you get to use your Sawzall.

A single seat cafe racer would be the preferred way to go for me.
A nice seat with a hump, a chrome rear fender, maybe a different tank and low clip-ons! There you go!
