Other changes included adjustable handlebars, an adjuster for headlight level, together with the option of hard panniers. The bike was finished in a sombre dark silver grey with reversed black Comstar wheels.
The final 'C' model was introduced in 1982 and differed from the 'B' in only one respect - it now featured a pillion grab rail.

MAINTENANCE
THE CBX1000 appears to have few problem areas and has gained a reliable reputation.
On early models the plastic swinging arm bushes wear quickly and on all models the exhaust system is a fast-rot item. Problems can occur with aftermarket six-into-one systems if they leak around the head or the carburation is not properly adjusted, resulting in burnt out exhaust valves. It’s also worth keeping an eye on the nuts and studs which can corrode, making it very difficult to remove the exhaust system.
Fred Watson, workshop manager of the Portsmouth Honda Centre, says the worst problem with servicing the 'Six' is the time it takes. A full service takes as much as five or six hours. So unless you're prepared to service your own bike be prepared for high labour costs.
Service intervals are 3,750 miles (final drive chain adjustment checked every 600 miles).
Every 3750: change engine oil; change engine oil filter; clean air filter; adjust cam chain tension. Inspect: spark plugs; valve clearances; ignition timing; throttle operation; carburettor idle speed; battery; brake fluid; brake pad wear; brake system; brake light switch; headlight aim; clutch free play; side stand; suspension; nuts, bolts and fasteners and wheels.
Every 7500: As 3750 plus replace spark plugs and check steering head bearings.
Every 11,250: as 7500 plus change brake fluid and clean engine oil screen.
WHAT'S IT WORTH?
AS seems the case with most machines, as the model was developed and the chassis improved, so the engine became de-tuned.
There can be no doubt that the later 'B' and 'C' model CBX1000s have a better chassis but it is the early 'Z' and 'A' models with full power engines that are the most sought after. These, however, are few and far between.
For an original example you'll probably have to spend well over £2000. Currently, even 'B' and 'C' models in good condition are fetching between £1500 and £2000.
