Hey everyone. My name is Nick and I'm a new member here. I have been riding motorcycles for the past 12 years, a love passed from my father. His first bike was a Honda CB400F, and my first bike was a CB750F. I was looking for a fun winter project and a friend of mine at the airport I work at had a nonrunning 79CBX for sale. I snatched it up, and when he delivered the bike, he brought a surprise second 79CBX along with! So I went from 1 project to 2! Neither one work, so I've got my hands full. I'm a new CBX club member, and the guy I purchased the bikes from was a long time member. I can't wait to be apart of this community and tap the wealth of knowledge that is here!

Yikes - sorry about garbling your intro - my super-admin powers ran amok there for a moment :-)

Greetings Nick!

You're about to have some fun, bloody knuckles and all. I for one am looking forward to helping you along with your projects and I know others feel the same.

I'll offer you my stock advice - keep a bit of a journal going here, post pictures as you go, and we will get engaged in helping you if you want us to.

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys! I'm looking forward to these rebuilds, and I'll definitely be taking pictures along the way. I just became a member, but am waiting for my member number and access to the members portion of the site. I have lots of technical questions I need to start reading up on. The biggest one I'm working on right now is fork upgrades. I know that everyone has their opinion, but I really want to turn one bike into a sweet cafe racer, and the other into a comfy tour bike.

You need to look up Don Schmitt from Ft. Wayne. He has lots of CBXs, and last we spoke, he was restoring 4 late models at once. He's also recently bought several early models.

Email me at: rickeieio1 at comcast dot net and I'll get you hooked up.
