My pilots do not have a washer or "o" ring on top of the spring. Are they supposed to be there? I cannot find a good pic or clear parts fisch.

Welcome to the site.
Rubber o-ring and washer should both be there. Often they stay stuck inside the carb body and a fine wire hook is required to persuade their removal.
Half way down the first page is a pic. http://www.motorcycleproject.com/motorc ... short.html
The Mike Nixon carb book is the best money you can spend for your CBX.

If the carbs have been sitting for a while sometimes they will stick to the carb pilot orifice, squirt a couple drops of WD-40 in the passages and follow Steve's advice.

Thanks for both of your replys. My mirror showed a metalic surface inside the pilot holes but that may have been the washer. However, all six looked the same.I'm going to remove the easiest pilot and see if I can remove anything.I saw the book site before with the pic of the pilot and that's what prompted my inquirey.
