Hi, my name is Gary Charlton. I am from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I am NEW to this forum and wish to say hello. I am 52 years OLD and have been a Honda tech for most of the last 36 years. I am on the tail end of a three year resto of a '79 CBX. I have been all through this forum and let me tell you, I find it to be a valueable tool to anyone who wants to restore, buy, own, or learn about the Honda CBX. I can say nothing INDIFFERENT, keep up the good work of keeping the CBX in the motorcycle limelight. I do have one question, I have searched nearly this entire forum and cannot find anything on the frame decal placements. Any help is appreciated. Thanks garyc

Gary:
Welcome! Only one actual 'frame' decal that I can think of - the helmet holder. The 2 frame tags are riveted on. Several others on toolbox, chainguard, etc. I might be able to provide pics of them all in original positions.

Welcome Gary! I can't personally help you with the decals, but I'm sure we can get some measurements from an unrestored bike from someone. Sit tight, I bet help comes along shortly.
Pics of your bike or it didn't happen

. Email them to me if you like and I'll post them for you. nils dot menten at gmail dot com

I have an original 79.
Like Nils says , just the helmet holder decal on the frame. VIN and EPA tags are aluminum and riveted.
The chain guard had decals., toll box has a decal.
That's about it.

Welcome to the site, Gary.
A Honda Tech that works on a CBX? I thought they were extinct.
My '81 came from Oklahoma City. I bought it from Robert Hill, a former Club member.

Hey thanks for all the input. Sorry I havent responded sooner, been pretty busy. I think I about got the decal stuff covered. I found the vin plate and the other plate to rivet back on the frame. I put them up so I would know where they were when I was ready put them back on. Took me three days to find them. Today I installed the carbs, the exhaust (6 into 1 hand built D&D ). This bike is bone stock other than the tires, pipe, and I color matched an 81 fairing to the candy glory Red. I bought this cbx (14,900 mi. on it) and three other bikes from a lady that her deceased brother owned, An 84 hon V 65 sabre, a stripped 84 gold wing, and a SR 500 yamaha. Sold the goldwing for what I paid for all four bikes, kept the Sabre and sr 500, and sold the Cbx to my boss and he is paying me to restore it. Sent my pics that I have to Nils to post. Thanks Nils

My 82 originated out there in Oklahoma. The first caretaker of it (according to him writing his name and address in the owners manual) was Kerry Rice from El Reno, OK. Know him? LOL.
Welcome, and treat that resto right, even if it isn't yours anymore.
