Well today I managed to get the head together and bench set the valve clearances. Then I turned to and got the head set on the block. Looked so good I went ahead and timed the cams.
Tomorrow I'll run the valve clearances one final time before buttoning up the top end.
All I lack for startup is a battery, carb manifold boots and a chain.
I'll post up some pics later on.

hey mike
my '81 i am rebuilding came with early model carb boots (don't ask!). if you are stuck and need some i can send them to you. it may take awhile from the great white north but you can have em if you need them. these are old units off the bike but they look pretty good, a little brittle but with a little heat when popping carbs on it should work. let me know if you need em.

I finally got around to polishing up the foot pegs and the shifter, the stock paint just clashed with the polished side steps:

Spying your stainless oil line...when you had them made up did they re-use the stock flanges?
I found your thread on them, did you provide the shop with the entire old hoses to follow the angles?
