Here are some shots of a couple of my bikes with the above-mentioned conversion. Nothing real close-up though.

Heres a closer shot:

Performance-wise this was the most worthy upgrade I did on my bike. HUGE improvement in braking power and feel, but as Dave mentioned in a related thread, it took every bit of a few hundred miles for it to fully bed in. I did the rear a bit later (thanks again Dave) and it was a definite improvement, although not quite as dramatic as the fronts.

Here's a vote for sending the rotors to my pal Tom at TrueDisc for grinding.

P.S. Those holes are not stock - TrueDisc did that for me.

Ha ha. I had noticed that one pic has the engine guards but thought it was the same bike at different times.

As someone who got his bike with the twin piston calipers from the start, I'll add that swapping to EBC HH pads made a huge improvement.

..and the other has a fork brace! It may still be the same bike at different times! 8)

Hopefully Dave will chime in and explain, but he's done quite a few bikes in recent years. The red '80 is the Katrina bike, a total rebuild. Should be named the "Phoenix".

Those are two different '80s. In addition to the already-mentioned items, one bike has anodized front and rear calipers as opposed to plain black ones on the other. Also, the shocks are mounted backwards on one and one has a Pro-Link swingarm and the other an 1100F arm. You really can't see that in the pics.

Anodized or powder-coated??

I saw the shock mounted with the reservoir fowrd on one bike, but I thought you may have done that only on the right side on the same bike. For some reservoir shocks the brake caliper is in the way.

The top black bike has the anodized 32mm twin-pistion calipers from an 86 VF1000R.
I think.

At least that's the tip Dave gave me.

Pretty close Barry. Those might be the similar 30mm ones from some other Interceptor from the era. I can't remember for sure. They look pretty cool if you can find cosmetically good ones - it's hard if not impossible to renew the factory finish on those.

The front fenders appear to be different as well. The bike with the VF calipers looks like it has a CB1100F fender. The bike with the engine guards looks like it has a Pro-Link/CB900F fender.

:D :D :D Where is Waldo???
It is interesting to see with how much attention to detail the members look at a CBX!
When my German issue '79 was still in original condition -just after I cam over to the U.S. - I had people look over it all the time, pointing out the subtle differences. I don't think anybody ever found them all. Took me a while.

You are correct - fenders are different. Both have Pro-Link forks and Canadian 1100F bars to go with the complete sport kit on each. The one without the fork brace has 80,000 miles on it:
