The 'never do it again' is not for the reason most expect. Starting wasn't too difficult but it did need a shot occasionally. For occasionally street riding and road-racing it was okay. If you've ever ridden a CBX with individual filters in a heavy rain, you know that the filters get wet and the bike runs lousy. I prefer the stock airbox. And with the stock airbox it is so difficult to give it a shot of ether. And it would be such a pain in the butt to get it dialed in with a stock airbox.
Removing Choke Plates---Why Not for 5 HP ??

Too me, the bike is already hard to start....why not just use the acc pump a few times to get it going ?? seems like an easy way to get horsepower...

It's a time consuming way to get 5 hp. I also discovered that my legs were restricting the airflow to the 1 and 6 cylinder and jetted the appropriate carbs one size smaller then 2-5. With the new filters with only 3 filters that would be unneccessary. 5 hp is barely noticeable.

Any internal combustion engine design has tolerances that result in a variation in power output over the production volume. 5% total is not unusual. For 100 hp nominal, that's 5 hp.
In other words, the horsepower output of an engine nominally rated at 100 hp could vary in production from 97.5 to 102.5 hp.
I agree with George! One would have to have a REAL sensitive "seat of the pants" to recognize the difference between min and max.
choke screws

Picked 3mm x 6mm stainless steel cross head machine screws from Menards of all places. Ran a 3mm tap through the choke shaft threads before putting the screws in(with sealant). Just don't like putting too much pressure on the bars, would hate to bend them.....just thought his may be of help to others. [/b]
