Riding Question

For some reason at times I get a Wobble while riding my 79 CBX over 100 km per hr.

Anyone else has similar experience.

You need to address the steering neck connection/tightening. It is a little complex to elaborate. it is a common issue

The front forks are weaker on the 79's. A fork brace would be a simple bolt on solution.

Many things can contribute to a front end wobble.
Worn front tire, improper tire air pressure, worn swingarm bearings?

I would check and replace if you still have the plastic swing arm bushings.

I know for a fact that the swinging arm bushings are the plastic ones.

I think Mike Nixon addressed that very issue with a write-up in his "Motorcycle Project" web-site. I don't have a link right now, but I remember I did the steering neck bearing adjustment a few years ago and it solved the problem.

EMS is on point. My 82 never had the problem but tightening the neck bearings on my early 79 solved it. Although I had a fork brace, it didn’t seem to have any effect on the wobble.

I had a fork brace on my 80 and it was a disaster. Stopping at traffic lights I would wait for the forks to come back up to ride height. Removed the brace and universe rebalanced. Just letting you know to be careful where you get the brace from. My bike came with it.

Forget the use of fork braces, there is no quantifiable evidence they do any good on any year CBX, except make your wallet lighter. The stock plastic bushings get a bad rap. There is nothing wrong with the vast majority of them. And they are certainly better than brass bushings that are not honed to the correct clearance.

As others have said, check for proper tire pressures and wear, properly rebuilt forks with the correct amount of oil, and most certainly the steering bearings need serviced/replaced.

Crappy rear shocks can cause this too.

I have those fancy fork braces on mine and I felt absolutely no difference in riding. I admit I bought them just for looks. I don’t have a wobble issue but adding a brace won’t do $***
