So I won't find any parts for my valve, anybody know of a complete -82 valve for sale?

Even if you find one what are the odds that it is any good? If I was you I would take it out and shut your gas off manually and be done with it. But you can't forget to shut your gas off.

I think the point is that you can apparently rebuild the '82 vacuum valve if it leaks - and by leaking, we mean allowing fuel to pass through the valve, not external leaks - the other years you cannot. Yes, turning the gas 'OFF' is the best policy regardless.

The bike will even start easier without the auto valve.

Just look for '82 valve on ebay, I see them all the time.
Use the kit that you bought and rebuild it.
In the mean time, disconnect your valve and ride without it but DON'T forget to turn fuel OFF.
In the picture that you posted, it looks like only one diaphragm is bad, the one on the right.
Is it the same diameter like the one from the kit that you bought?
If so, it may work
