Re: David Silver Exhausts
There were two different makes of exhaust replicas made. One was by Delkevic, a Chinese manufacturer and the other was by Sankei, the manufacturer of the original CBX exhaust.
My opinion, having seen several sets of both:
The quality of the Delkevic sets is rather inconsistent. On some, the muffler cans are not perfectly round and smooth but look like a polygon. The Sankei sets are much closer to the originals, including the stampings.
Both sets were very close to each other in price. I paid a little less than $1,200 for a set of Delkevics and not quite $1,400 for the Sankeis
Both sets are still available. I see them on ebay all the time.

Re: David Silver Exhausts
David Silver sells the Sankei. I just got a set about a month ago. Very close to original. The only issue for some might be a couple of extra spot-weld dimples on the can, but they explain that on the website. I think they're fine and would be great on just about any CBX. The Delkevics do come with reproduction split collars and flanges and the Sankeis do not.

Dave, have you run them yet?
How do they sound?
I have heard the Delkavic system and to my ear sounded just like stock.

The Sankei exhaust system sounds exactly like the original. They should. They are identical.

Re: David Silver Exhausts
Yes. If you are looking for a different sound or more performance, look for something else. Both these systems were intended to provide an exhaust for a restoration close to original. That they do.

Re: David Silver Exhausts
That is correct- neither sets have the '81/'82 crossover pipe. Also note that Sankei do NOT make the repro pipes for the '81/'82 models at this time whereas Delkevic do.

Re: David Silver Exhausts
If the Delkevics do not have a crossover, they do not have repro pipes for the 81/82 models. It is just a marketing gimmick. I don't think they offer two different sets.cbx1956 wrote:That is correct- neither sets have the '81/'82 crossover pipe. Re: David Silver Exhausts
They do- I've already checked it out. The difference is in the left hand side set where the positioning of the stop for the centre stand is in a slightly different place.

Re: David Silver Exhausts
When I look at the David Silver pipes, the markings are a little confusing. My Sankei pipes are marked HM422 E not H422. My Delkevics do not have any markings.

Re: David Silver Exhausts
I stand corrected here however I think for some reason Sankei had to drop the "M" out of their repro pipe coding; I have a set of the repros which I purchased over a year ago on my '80 CBX- the coding on them is just 422L and 422R.....same as what David Silver's pipes say.EMS wrote:When I look at the David Silver pipes, the markings are a little confusing. NorthEast Vintage Cycle just south of Buffalo was selling the Delkevic system.
I do not know which one they are carrying now.
