Hi, New member here with 2 CBX1000.
I started a strip of my 79 carbs and quickly decided its not a good idea, i just don't want to go through the learning curve and all the debugging.
I am in Ireland:
Where is the best place to send the carbs for a full rebuild? preferably in Europe although i don't mind sending to the USA if that is where i can get the best job dome.
Thanks in advance.
Patrick

Re: Best option for carb rebuild
Welcome to the ICOA forum, Patrick!
The best option, really, is to do it yourself. It will require some time and some special attention to certain things, but it can be done.
I would suggest two places you can send your carbs in the U.S. but you being in Ireland, shipping the parts back and forth is cost prohibitive. Also, the two guys I have in mind are probably really busy.
They may answer themselves, if they think they can do it.
Try to find (ebay??) the carb rework instruction booklet from Mike Nixon. It is an excellent, step-by-step guide to do the carbs yourself.

Re: Best option for carb rebuild
Thanks for the response, i have the bit between my teeth and i want to get this bike done.
I have the ability to do the carbs and a factory manual but i still would like to send them out, possibly off both of my bikes. On the 79 bike there is a few bits need replacing. There is a home made butterfly valve and one of the rubber links is perished.
Shipping to and from the USA is something my business does every week so no real problem there.
Also looking on the web i like the look of the carbs that have been vapor blasted and polished.

Patrick,
If you do want to give it a go yourself (a fair idea),give this site a look for CBX 'how-to' manuals. Mike Nixon is one of the best. http://www.motorcycleproject.com/motorc ... ook.html#1 . He has been A-Z with motorcycles during his life, including factory Honda tech.

Patrck:
I have had Mike Nixon do two 79 CBX sets for me and I am very pleased with his work. I highly recommend him if you decide to send them to the USA.
