SS BRAKE LINES

Open for suggestion for SS Brake lines for 81 CBX, need to have the rubber grommets that fit the brake line holder on the fender and rear brake torque bar.

A lousy memory but i think Spiegler offers grommets but of course would have to be ordered before assembly.

I'm a dealer for Spiegler and when you place your order (with me or anyone else) for line color, fitting color, banjo bolts and anything else, just ask for the MR-250001 grommet.
One each on the front lower lines and 2 on the rear line. This grommet is "fat" and will fill out to the stock clips on the bike.
They're $1.99 each but, I include them at no charge along with my usual 10% discount for club members.

I cut the grommets with a sharp knife and reused them with a little black silicone seal, brake lines are from Webike Japan, and both front lines come directly from the Master cylinder, eliminating the junction behind the horn(s).
I routed the new lines behind the junction to hold them in place and used the steel stock bolts on the banjo fittings, the aluminum ones require lower torque settings of 12-15 ft/lbs. The stock ones are around 18ft./lbs. I set mine at about 13.5, and it seems fine.
The lines also have a 'memory' so you can spread them out away from the front fender.

FYI to all interested parties.
The Webike lines use adapters at the line ends to connect to a separate banjo fitting. Adding multiple, potential leak locations.
As such, the Webike lines are NOT, DOT approved and from my perspective, unsafe.

The Spiegler lines that I sell are all DOT approved and are made to order in your choice of line and fitting colors. Additionally, each crimped fitting end can be rotated (with supplied tools) so you can "clock" them to your specific situation.
The lines can be any length or style. Examples for the front: 3 lines like stock, 2 separate lines from the m/c to each caliper or 1 line to the first caliper and a "jumper" to the other caliper.
They also offer banjo bolts in various thread pitches, lengths, colors, stainless steel, aluminum and pre-drilled for safety wiring.
Whatever you want, they can make it for you.
IMO, they're the best lines available. I've been a dealer for them for over 15 years and I highly recommend using them, even if you don't buy from me.

That's true, the Webike banjo fittings are threaded on the end and have a 'nut' that you tighten after it's in place.
Not the best method, but so far, no problems.
I didn't like the ultralight aluminum bolts they sent me either.
Someone wrote in the reviews that they torqued one of them to 25lbs and it snapped off.

We worked with a company called TechnaFit a couple of years ago, sent them samples of every possible variety of CBX brake line to model. They have the nice slender necks that fit our calipers nicely, and perfect grommets that fit the stays on the fenders and brake torque arm.
