Las Vegas 2012

Post by Rick Pope »

Hey y'all,

In case you aren't aware, there is a big antique bike auction in Las Vegas this coming month. It's held by Mid-America Auctions at the Southpoint casino/resort on the south end of the Strip.

I know the Wes and Cindy Anderson, Dave and Diane McMunn, and several other CBXers are planning to attend.

Susan and I went back in '07 and had a great time, socializing, drooling over bikes, and sight seeing.

Just be careful not to take too much money or you might come home with a bike you hadn't planned on owning. :o

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

Last week I went to buy a model like the first bike I had when I was 14 years old. I knew the owner had several other bikes for sale, and took plenty of cash along, just in case. Fortunately, I only took the truck, no trailer. Keeps the missus happy if I only drag in one at a time. 8)

With 16 in the shed, there's no more room. Time to turn some of them loose for others to enjoy......then who knows.....

Ther sould be some noise coming from LV, telling us how great the weather is, what cool bikes are in the auction, etc. Wish I was there. :violin:

There's always noise coming from Las Vegas, but it's usually from the hotel rooms...... :laughing-rolling:

Well, here it is, Sunday, the auction will wind up today and no mention of spectacular bikes, smoking deals, etc. Heck, by now I would have thought we'd have heard about Wes and Dave causing a ruckus at some club or sometrhing. :o

Seroiusly, I need to get back there again sometime. The flow of wonderful machines is amazing, and hanging with good friends is it's own reward.

Sorry guys, too much to do here! The auction is over and overall prices seem to be on the upswing. Many bikes met reserve that had one. However, the so-so 60,000 mile '79 got bid to $8000 and did not meet reserve. We think some shill bidding was going on there. A 20,000 mile '79 that was decent went for $6000. Lots of other bikes we watched went for really pretty good money.

We've had a good time with Wes and Cindy, Craig and Linda Williams and Flori and Jeri (sp) Gruenewald. Most eveyone is heading out today - we are staying until tomorrow. Weather is tough here - low 60s and bright sun every day!
