Aaah, California sunshine!!!

Post by Terry »

Just my usual stress relieving ride into the hills and to the ocean and back. Here's a few pics of some of the bikes at Alice's today, and a few ocean shots. Sadly, we heard that some sportbike rider was killed in a crash very near Alice's. CHP and the Sheriff's department had hiway 84 closed for a time to retrieve the body from down a cliffside. Some corners were quite damp despite the sunny weather. Tires are cold, the road's cold and sandy sometimes and sometimes, the rider is completely the cause. Hope it was different today but its not likely.

First I have to say that this is not to start a racket but to clear a point.
The above pic of Alices is in Cal. but the original song by Arlo Guthrie that made Alices famous is based in Stockbridge Mass.???????????
What am I missing here?????
Great pics Terry,
Thanks

Alice's is a chain? I had no idea. I guess I'll look 'em up and see where else they are.

There is a new Quaker Steak and Lube going in near me. They have Bike Nites and cruise-inn every week. This one is close enough to attend most weeks.

Thanks for the pics Terry. Sun is shining here, but it's only gonna be 28f for a high today. Thur/Fri had a high around 10/12f.

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

Just returned from a romp around Google. Found out there's a lot of restaurants named "Alice's", but it appears they have no connection other than the name.

D'ya think they're just trying profit from assocaition to the Guthrie song? Naaahhhhhh........

BTW, we visited their with Terry on the day we did the Pacific Toe-dip at the end of the C2C. Cool place.

Oh well, Terry! It looks to me, you are being compensated quite fairly for not being able to attend the Winter meeting in Columbus
Just remember: We have two feet of snow and it is still coming down...

And here's a little more southern version of California sunshine, 80f today.

3111

That's one of the valleys I had to cross to get to my breakfast destination

3112

Breakfast destination complete with eucalyptus trees

3113

and another valley to cross on the trip home. It's 30 miles one way and looks like this all the way from home. One of the advantages/disadvantages is there's not a million other bikes there. I arrived at 9am and was the only bike there. When I left there were maybe half a dozen.

Here's a video I found of a portion of the road taken from a Ducati 848

Hi Terry

In so many ways I look forward to seeing all your great travel pictures ...and often I have said .....you and others that post these wonderful pictures take us to places where we might never get to go....so thank you

On the other hand.....seeing the nice weather you have and us stuck here in the East with the snow and freezing temperatures....one has to ask one simple question.......what is wrong with us for putting up with this.

Here's a few more of the variety of bikes we saw yesterday. My daughter just turned 27 and rode down to buy me lunch at Alice's. Had a great Kobe beef burger!

Hey -

While you are out riding the snot out of your CBX's, drooling over two wheeled exotica, and generally having fun, some of us have to get our CBX fixes in other ways. While a bit chilly for a ride, I can warm the garage up enough for some CBX wrenchin' :D
