Rode to El Cajon

Post by cbxtacy »

It was fun, went for a bit, here's some pic's-

interesting cars and a Ural sidecar with carbon fibre on it-what an oxymoron.

A lot of old hemi's and straight axles. Right up uwonamos' alley.

Hundreds of hot rods. Blown, injected, street gassers, and not a single trailer in sight. Everything was driven there.

Ever wonder why a rear engine car at a car gathering has the rear closed but the front open? If you look real careful under the hood (trunk?(the removable cover in front of the windshield)) you just might see part of a 944 Porsche engine  . Yep, that's right. Next time I see it, I'll get a pic of the engine. A real clean installation. I got there late and left early. Next time I'll get there early and leave late and get video's of all the noisy things arriving and leaving.

Hundreds of cars every wednesday. I usually only take a few pic's every time I go. Once a month they close off the street. The rest of the wednesday's you can cruise up and down Main Street. I'm curious how many bikes will be there next wednesday.

I think I saw somewhere it was a 50th anniversary concept whipped up by a rod shop around 2003. There are so many older cars with modern suspension, powerplants w/AC, and outright racing vehicles driven there it's bordering on rediculous.

My dad had one George in 1956, It was built by ford UK ( Anglia E494A (1949–1953) for the English market & was a piece of sh!t...Didn't look anything like the one pictured, that would have been cool...

There's a company that does that for a bunch of money. I think they're in California. That thing isn't near as impressive as their their take of a '53 Vette/Nomad. Now that turns heads and not because it's ugly; it's a genuine looker.
