2000 km in 18 hours

Post by patzx12 »

My best day's mileage yet.
Costa Del Sol to Cherbourg ferry in 18 hours.
2000 Km
No aches and pains.
No issues with the bike.
No food stops, just 2 coffees and half a litre of water.
But lots of fuel and tolls.

Normally I am not so enthused about the 81's, something about that Pearl White puts me off. But WOW! Patzx12 your X looks awesome! :-)

Well done Pat! And I agree that is one great looking 82 CBX!

You might want to go to the Iron Butt Association for additional info on planning and doing long rides. They have a lot of great info, even including things not to eat and drink as well as what is good for us. They also will certify your ride if you provide them with the specific information they request. It is much easier to plan in advance to do this and determine in advance what you will need. The only negative is they seem to do everything in miles as opposed to km.

Thanks,
I just wanted to get back to Ireland ASAP.
I wish the bike had a sixth gear otherwise a great motorway blaster.
Monday morning 6am Madrid rush hour wasn't fun,
My BMW Motorrad Satnav was a perfect fuel gauge.
I often did it with an overnight hotel on the ZX12R and can go without food for a day.

yeah, I'm always shifting into sixth only to be disappointed :(

I've always preferred the white over the grey but I think I'm in a minority...which may explain why I have a silver 79 and not red

2000kms in 18hrs...very impressive
CBX a work in progress, still improving...GS1150EFE completed and awaiting modifications.....RD350, remnants in boxes scattered throughout the garage
