If you love the CBX - You have to have this...

Post by NobleHops »

Gents,

I just spent some quality time with the second CBX Book - the silver one. It is as incredible as the first.

Image

So I want to put a plug in for the author, Ian Foster, a real gentleman and the most incredible ambassador for the CBX that we could ever have. Ian did an amazing job AGAIN, truly a labor of love in producing these, and you can still get this - unlike the Red book, which is long since sold out.

So a reminder - You can still buy this book. It's a bargain at $50 and it will give you many hours of enjoyment, without plugging its carburetors in between times you pick it up  They cost US$50.00/Book, plus shipping. That's 442 pages of CBX goodness, history, manufacturing, racing, advertisements, specials and customs, and and and. There is also a DVD attached to the rear of the book allowing you to look at photos in much greater detail. It's a ton of stuff.

There are two places in the USA where these can still be found, before they start getting auctioned on eBay (for 6X the price, that is):

- From Jan Ringnalda (President of this very club) Email Jan at mrcbx@att.net and he can hook you up with a copy or two.

- And from Louis Mintrone of UsedCBXparts.com Louis can be reached at usedcbxparts@hotmail.com

Eeek, I totally forgot something: If you're in OZ or NZ or generally down under, Roland Skate (rol) has a few cases too, will save you considerable postage from the USA.

Ditto on the book. I didn't think the first could be improved. Not the first time I've been wrong!!!

I'd just like to make a post regarding Jan - I wanted a copy of the book, but with my living in the UK and it being a very heavy item, it meant shipping was always going to be expensive. When I placed my order Jan kindly offered to bring it across the Atlantic when he visited the UK - once here, he posted it at national rates, which saved a load. So - Thank you, Jan - you went above and beyond the call of duty to help me out - it is much appreciated! :)

See the post above for a possible source.
The first one was/is long sold out so if you do find a copy it will be pricey.
Copies of the second edition are still available.

Forgive my ignorance, but how does Book II differ from the first? Is it truly just a 2nd edition, or is it a completely new book?

There is a bit of carry-over but not a lot.
More photo/stories of bikes from owners around the world and more history about the planning and development from the early days of the bike.
Money well spent, imho.
