Re: Lionel Brancquart's CBX
Hi Everyone ,
First , Thank you very much for your posts ! passion doesn't know borders
I put the pics of the bandit carbs on my blog , link below ,
http://allumage-electronique.blogspot.f ... yl-gl.html
If you want to listen another 6 cyl with exactly the same ignition except the rotor because the high revs
look at the Guy coulon VIdeo ,,, first run at the bench up to 16000 t/mn ( now it reaches 22000 )

Re: Lionel Brancquart's CBX
Sorry , i don't reply the previous questions,
For Guy Lauverjat engine , bore and stroke are not modified
the head has been lowered ( 1mm ) and original pistons drilled to respect distance with valves ,,,,
I made this ignition in 1995 because i have misery with lucas type on my Ducati mono and twin

Thanks very much, but I think we're not quite there yet... That URL looks right, but when I click it, I get a writeup about a car with the title:

Thanks - it looks like the issue was with the wacky stuff that our work network does in the name of security. It looks good to me from other networks.twowings wrote:Link worked correctly for me.

Re: Lionel Brancquart's CBX
That is super cool, thanks for sharing it. It's a very interesting approach. I was thinking that this might be a good way to go for people (like me) who want to use carbs that have better parts availability without making the leap to a non-CV carb.guyem wrote:First , Thank you very much for your posts ! passion doesn't know borders

Looking at the cost and complexity, it seems to me that going to a roundslide or flatslide carb that allows rejetting with the carbs in place might be a better long-run solution for people who would be paying for the work - while the use of 2 sets of modified B4 carbs would be appealing to someone who can do all of the work themselves, or who really want to keep the CV for best street manners.

Re: Lionel Brancquart's CBX
Since CBXTRA6 noted in this thread that he has some personal connection to the Brancquart bike, I asked him in a PM for more info about if the bike is actually raced or not. Here is his reply (he gave permission to share this):
CBXTRA6 wrote:Yes I know the Brancquart team and saw up close the bike while I attended the SRC (Sunday Ride Classic) at the Paul Ricard track last year with Ian Foster.
These guys built this CBX as a personal challenge on their spare time, having access to all sorts of exotic racing parts , manufacturers and experts like Mr Coulon , the mad scientist in the TECH3 team who was Colin Edwards and Johan Zarco crew Chief. Google his name and you'll find the amazing 300cc six he built from scratch...
Brancquart CBX was built, as you said for exhibition, weekend events and short track exercise, NOT for all out racing. The mods on this bike is a mile long !
They wanted to achieve maximum perf. out of older technology with minimal weight and they succeeded. One can argue if it really revs close to 20000 rpm, the electronic tach oscillates so much than it is hard to tell, but I can tell you that it will definitely rev at least to 15000. They achieved that mainly in removing weight from a blue printed crank, custom made pistons, custom rods, and shim UNDER bucket like all modern bikes. I have a few up close pics of the bike, shoot me your e.m. adress and I'll send them to you, or go back to my SRC summary report last April on this ICOA site, there was a DROPBOX link to all my pics taken.

Re: Lionel Brancquart's CBX
There was quite a bit of speculation in this thread about just how high that engine does rev. I've thought for a long time that it should be doable to extract that info from the revving video, and today I finally got enough curiosity and ambition to do that analysis.
This video explains how to extract that info. The short story is that for a 6-cylinder, even-fire engine, the RPM = the dominant frequency (in Hz) x 20:
So, I captured the audio from the revving video, selected the part near the end where he seems to zing it to its highest level, and performed a spectral analysis on that selected part.
The result:
Well, look at that. The dominant component at 1000 Hz indicates that it does reach 20,000 RPM as claimed.

Re: Lionel Brancquart's CBX
So if the 20K is indeed true do we assume the 382lb dry weight is true as well?

Re: Lionel Brancquart's CBX
It makes me inclined to believe it, though some people play by some odd rules for "dry" weight, like excluding things like the battery.

Re: Lionel Brancquart's CBX
I reduced the dry wt of my G1150S by a full 11 lbs by switching to Li-on. One of the least expensive weight reductions I've made on any bike. The CBX battery was larger than my GS battery so probably an easy 12 lb saving for the CBX.

Re: Lionel Brancquart's CBX
Had a chance to meet and chat with Lionel Brancquard earlier this summer at the SRC. Amazing guy, knowledge and quite a respected speed shop in Europe for both 2 and 4 wheels.
