Throttle lock positioning on my 82
I had one on my previous 82 and it worked fine. Never paid any attention to how/where it was attached. I bought another just like the old one but looking at where it should be attached I found there is a difference in the thickness of the handlebar very close to where the lock is to be attached. All I need is a quarter of an inch but how? I have to move the brake/switch assembly away from the grip but the ‘lip’ is in the way. Suggestions?

Your switch locating pin must be broken off. They are meant to locate in a hole in the handlebar. If the pin is still there, I certainly would not break it off just to put on a throttle lock.

The switch throttle housing stays put. What needs to be moved about a quarter of an inch to the left is the brace? whatever it’s called that the M/C is attached to. The top pic shows how it was attached to my old bike. That’s how I want it to be on my new one but the handlebar is thicker there than it is farther to the right.

Most likely the locating pin was missing on your previous setup and the throttle was moved outboard to fit the bracket on the c.c.?

That could be I guess. All I need is a quarter inch too. Crossing Nevada or southern Oregon roads a lock really comes in handy.

Yes, that's what I'm saying - the pin was broken off of your old switch housing and it's slid outward to accommodate the throttle lock. With everything in place as it should be, there is NO room for that type of throttle lock.

Does Vista Cruise still sell those single clamp cruise controls? Inexpensive and fits the CBX without any mods.

Throttle lock installed today along with Galfer SS brake lines. All that was necessary was to drill another locating pin hole giving the needed 1/4” of space.
