Some of you may have noticed another CBX lurking in the background of Nils' "Bitsa Bike" project thread.
With no idea how many miles were on the bike, the first order of business was to see if it would run. Changed the oil, checked valve clearance, cleaned up some wiring and installed some carbs I had recently rebuilt for fun. It started right up, was pretty quiet, idled smoothly and did not smoke so off I went.
Long story, short, I took the bike for its first test ride this week and it performed well in its first 10 miles. Too damn hot in Tucson right now for riding so more mileage will have to wait. Maybe next week when it drops into the low 90s.
This 79 has been around the Restocycle shop for a few years and originally Nils was going to sell it to someone as a parts/project bike. When that deal fell thru we began looking at the bike and decided it might be worth saving since it was "all there". It only needed body work, a gas tank, an exhaust, gauges, a headlight bracket and bucket, turn signals, and servicing from front to back. Since we had almost all that stuff around the shop it seemed like a good idea.Another One Brought Back to Life

Fantastic!! Another one for history. Saving any of these beautiful bikes as they were intended to be for future custodians to take care of and hopefully pass on to future lovers of great motorcycles!!
