Re: 2 generic questions about the CBX

Post by bobcat »

Back in '78 I was given the option of black, red or silver and I chose Black only to have the dealer call and say black was no longer being offered. Then I've heard black was an option in Europe only, I don't know if that's true has anyone verified that it was? Maybe true maybe not there are unexplained oddities.

Gotta be nice not everyone is an expert I know I'm not, I'm wrong a lot.

I have a friend from Norway (now lives just a few miles from me) who has a black European 79. :-)

Yes, this is known. The 1980 SC03 model was not sold in quite a few countries. For a fact, not in Germany and not in the U.K. When Honda started to offer "Black" as a color for 1980, a few late 1979 models were delivered in black through "ED" -"European Direct Sales". These bikes all have high serial numbers above 19,000 of the 1979 model, CB1...

Really don't know why this is even being discussed.
Because this is a discussion forum, and you go on with three additional paragraphs, why don’t you take your on advice?

A black 79 would be the rarest CBX, I expect they'd be priced accordingly.
CBX a work in progress, still improving...GS1150EFE completed and awaiting modifications.....RD350, remnants in boxes scattered throughout the garage
