I thought I would post a poll asking what your favorite color of CBX.
You can select 2 colors if you wish.
Being new to this I thought I would ask about the various colors of CBX bikes through the years and the opinions on which are more desirable than others.
My limited knowledge is that the bikes came like this:
1978, 1979, 1980
Same sort of styling except the US and Canada had higher bars and footpegs to match upright style
They came in either Red, Silver or Black
1981, 1982
These bikes were the more touring style bikes with saddle bags that came in grey or white. One for each year
So
My question is about color choices. We’re there more made of a certain color or was there a color that was more desirable by people or collectors.
I have a 1980 bike that is red that is made in the USA. (So the VIN plate shows)
Can I ask if there is any markings on the bikes VIN number that show the color of the bikes as well.
Appreciate any responses
Bill

Everyone that's in the market to buy a CBX, usually wants the '79 CGR, like yours.

I think JR meant any CGR, the color of yours. No, there is no way to know from the serial number nor from any Honda records (you'll never get access to them anyway, even if they do exist) what serial number was what color.

Re: Most popular color of CBX (various years)
Thanks for the info about serial numbers. The reason I was asking was that I am learning about these bikes. My bike was apparently made in the USA with parts from Japan according to the serial number.
But
From the forums I have been reading most people state that the bikes made in the Marysville (not sure if I am correct on the city) were all black bikes.
So I was wondering if mine is an oddball bike being red. Could this bike have been a custom order?
Unfortunately I bought the bike from an estate and all that is known was that the previous owner bought it around 1982 and it was last ridden in 1988
Other than that I have no history on the bike

I think I mentioned this in another post, but yes, red Marysville bikes have always seemed quite scarce, but there's no way to know for sure if they produced more black Marysville bikes than red ones.
