I'll say. That looks nearly as fast as a black one!
I know, that's why I have an alternate set of bodywork in black! :D

Actually the Silver (CBX-Z, European Version) 105HP, is faster than the black one (CBX-A, American Version) 100HP

Actually, it really wouldn't matter as you'd have to be a really good rider on a '79 to pull any distance ahead of an '80. Seat-of-the-pants, there is no difference. Actual 1/4 mile times are about .25 seconds difference.

Actually the 1980 version does not make the clutch noise/rattle, right? It probably makes a smoother ride :laughing-lettersrofl:

I just put a new air filter (the original turned into dust), and it's like the carbs have been balanced. It rides MUCH smoother now, and the clutch rattle is down by 80'% :-) I soaked it in oil and squeezed it, is this a good idea? As far as I remember, that's what it says in the manual.

Actually there's another cool upgrade my bike has (for a long time now), that's barely noticeable: The back wheel is an inverted comstar, from the pro-link model. Slightly wider than the original, 2.75 instead of the 2.15, so it can take a 130 tire.

Mine also has the larger american 45Ah alternator, the european is 35Ah.

A wider wheel is probably better but I have a 130 on my stock '79 wheel.

I put the fairing back on my GS today to make sure I've got all the fasteners and everything lines up as it should, tomorrow I'll take it all off and put the last clear coat on it and my 2nd set of cbx body parts.

very close to completion

But the 130 does not fit well on the original wheel, not even the 120 I guess... It gets too rounded... I mean, a 130 on the original wheel is not wider than a 120. It does not sit properly.

Zalle, where did you find the foam air filter? David Silver?
I soak them in 80# gear oil and gently wring them out.

Guys, I made some changes:

Got the six center clutch kit and footrest kit. The clutch rattles a lot less, so I adjusted the chains tensioners, and finally there's more sound coming out of the exhaust than the engine itself!!! YEY!!!

The footrests look great! If you don't lift them and look at the 2 new screws underneath, you'll never notice they are not the original ones.

Changed the oil + filter, and it's great now. I'll possibly change spark plugs today too, there's something going on at around 2.000rpm, and I hope it's just spark plugs. I wish I had asked my mechanic to adjust the carbs too, haven't been adjusted for a few years now...

Anyway, cool news, tomorrow I'm taking my baby for a review with a big national magazine :-) An actual magazine, not an online one. Let's see how it goes... They exist for over 30 years and never rode a CBX! Poor guys...
