Well folks:

I took the brakes off the bike a few days ago and started to pull them all apart and now have them all cleaned up and ready to put back together.

They look pretty good to me. Even the original brake pads are looking good. Mind you the bike only has 8952 original km on it.

Here are some photos. Interesting that the calipers don’t say Honda on them but in fact say Nissin on them.

I am pretty sure that everything is original as it does not appear to have been taken apart ever.

Some of the paint has come off the rear master cylinder as well as some from the front mater cylinder

The calipers are still very nice.

The right handle bar has some paint that has come off of it due to the brake fluid leaking there.

I was thinking of repainting these 3 things but will have to do some research as to what paint is a match for them. A rattle can paint would work for me as it is simple to use as well.

Let me know your thoughts

Bill

Thanks for the info

Glad to hear they are stock

Now for the big question:

Would you leave them as is or would you repaint them.

If you would paint them do you have a recommendation on what paint to use?

Thanks in advance

Bill

So I call the local Honda dealership here in Toronto to order some new rubber parts for the brakes.

Front Brakes:
- Master cylinder reservoir diaphragm $35.64
- O ring for reservoir cup $9.55
- Banjo bolt washers - no longer available
- Piston seal gaskets - $12.75 each need two

Rear brakes:
- reservoir diaphragm - $12.56
- piston Seal Gasket - $12.84

Most of the parts are on back order and will be a minimum of 4 - 6 weeks and some will take 2 weeks to get in for me.

I am going to re use all of the rubber parts as I cleaned them all up and they seem perfectly good to me

If it leaks then I will order new parts

A rattle can of Brake Caliper paint will work. Run everything through a pot of boiling water for 20 minutes first. Rinse in another pot of boiling water. Let air dry. Then, clean with 0000 steel wool and an acetone wipe. Blow with air compressor if you can.

This seller on eBay here, usually has everything you might need for seals. See if he'll ship to CA.

You don't need to go to Honda for these parts, K&L are every bit as good, and cheaper.
