MONOGRAM CBX PLASTIC MODEL KIT

Post by twinegar »

I just bought 2 long OOP model kits of the CBX. I was wondering if anyone here has ever seen or built one. I bought one to leave unbuilt and the other to build and display and am wondering if Monogram did a good job of detailing the CBX. Too bad Tamiya didn't do it as their model of the CB750 is flawless and highly detailed. Minichamps is supposed to be releasing a diecast of the CBX and their quality is A+.

I also just got in all 4 sales brochures covering the 4 years of CBX production and will have them on display at my website shortly.

I can attest to the Minichamps quality. I have a small collection of their 1:12 scale models of classics (shown in the "New Bike" thread) Can't wait for a CBX! But brace yourself! It will most likely be in the $150.- range :!:

I wish I had purchased the Minichamps CB750 when they were affordable and now they regularly go for over $200. I will definitely fork out for the CBX when it is released. I have a friend in the UK keeping an eye out. I hope they do both 79 colors like they did the CB750.

I still want to hear about the Monogram model from anyone that has it.

I have two CB750Ks. One in teal, the other in gold. If you want to pay me $150.-, I sell you the color of your choice. The teal bike does not have a sidestand.

I have never seen a completed Monogram X but I seem to recall that they looked pretty good (on the picture).

I'd very much like to have a Minichamps X (or 2). A quality die cast of the X is WAY overdue.

Twinegar, I love building model kits, my favorites are Tamiya kits. Is the monogram kit of the CBX a new one? And does it compare favorably with a Tamiya? Even if it doesn't, I want some.

I have 2 CBX kits coming from the UK and you just missed a 3rd one at Ebay. I believe the CBX kit came out in the '70's and are long out of production. I am shelving the boxed one and building the unboxed one. You will be able to see it at my website after it is finished. I will post a picture of the box later today. Save a search at Ebay and another is bound to turn up but expect to pay over $100.00 for it.

What I really want now is the Tamiya CB750 but can't see paying $200.00 for one. Some guy in Japan has them at Ebay for $150+ but by the time you pay shipping it is over $200.

I built one of these years ago. I built a 4 into 1 exhaust for it. I was bored. There are two chains that come with it. One is stationary and the other comes with separate links, rollers, and plates to glue together for an actual working chain. I did the actual working chain. I was stationed in South Korea at the time.

These are real lousy models. I have a Guiloy 1:10 CBX model. Also poorly executed. Color is not authentic and a lot of parts are chromed and cheaply made.

I've got seven of those diecasts sitting in my basement. Bought them at Walmart for around $4 each. Figure I'll be able to retire selling them on eBay some day but in the meantime if you want one you can have it for my cost + shipping.
