CBX Components in Development

Post by CBX-tras »

My associate (Kurt) and I are developing CBX components and we're letting the world know of our intentions, so the CBX community doesn't end up with several people attempting to make the same parts as we've seen in another example recently.

We welcome your interest and feedback and invite you to comment here to gauge our initial run quantities.

Here are a few of the things in process:

Idle adjuster screw with flex shaft (We've seen several broken or ready to break due to rust). The threaded portion and knob will be stainless steel.

Float bowl drain screws in stainless steel.

1979 CBX slide needles - 05F specific shape.

Gas tanks. Early model first. Steel, inside coated to prevent rust, sold in prime. Customer will need to source cap, latch, emblems and petcock.

Regards,

Larry Zimmer

That's great, JR.
It's nice to hear about any reproduction parts that will help in keeping these bikes running.

Making tanks will be a big help. It is getting very hard to find a dent free ,rust free tank.

In my world, reproducing either of these wouldn't make a business case. They'd fall into the "find a good, used one and refurbish", category.

Since the rubber wire protector is black and mostly out of view, I've used 4 to 1 ratio shrink tube to simulate the part. Good enough until you can locate better, concours correct. I don't think that anyone would fault you for that.
