Hi, I have a broken unit with a section missing and haven't been able to locate a new original one. I have been told that the CB750 from a 79 will work, maybe the same part, does anyone know if this is true and where I might get one?

Yes that bucket will fit as well as the one from the '80-'82 900F.
There is not quite as much room inside so getting all the wires inside takes a bit of finesse.
Some body here might have one or another option would be to have a look at the www.cb1100f.net site.
