CBX Vendor on Ebay

Post by HondaJohn »

A vendor that sells a lot of CBX parts on ebay, sends a lot of wrong parts and does not tell the truth about shipping dates etc... I don't want to name the vendor but they do business out of Indiana. If you buy from them, ask a lot of questions about the items you are interested in. They have screwed up multiple orders for me and lied about shipping dates. I will not order anything further from this vendor. Nice people and will give a refund but don't know what the hell is going on when it is ordering time.

I think I know who you are talking about, John. I have done business with them and had no problems. But I have seen them offering CB900F piston rings claiming they fit CBX. Although the bore is the same, the complete set of rings is different. I think it is just a matter of them having a lot of parts for a lot of different bikes and them NOT being CBX specialists. I don't think they are intentionally misleading. As you say, ask a lot of questions.

I believe i have also had a bad trading experience with the same family business out of indiana.I have been buying cbx parts from them on ebay for 2 years or more with no problems but the first time i sent a parts order that didnt go through ebay my parts never arrived, all enquiries were ignored (and there were many ) and paypal couldnt do anything to recover the $348. dollars because too much time had lapsed since the order was placed. The reason i left it so long to follow up was it is an overseas transaction (australia) and i never had any reason to doubt their integrity based on past experience. I notice on their feedback rating they are getting a lot more negative comments so its not just me getting the shaft! Les.

I dealt with this company TAS (I'll name them) for MANY YEARS and of late they have been VERY TARDY and haphazard with delivery. I am STILL waiting on an order placed April 20. I've sent I don't know how many E-Mails, called on the phone (the parts are in the mail, the parts have been sent, can't understand why you haven't received them ETC ETC ETC) all to NO avail.

I too did a transaction outside of E-Bay and am VERY DISAPPOINTED with their recent service.

As a possible explanation I am somewhat in agreement with previous post in thinking maybe they have bitten off more than they can chew and service and parts knowledge has suffered as a result. Maybe they should downsize and not try to cover so many bases, to a more manageable situation, OR hire more workers to help with the business requirements.

This is a real bummer, as I had a good experience with them on a couple of orders about 2 years ago - cheap, prompt, no issues whatsoever. Clearly something has changed.

Thank you guys for the heads-up. I don't like slagging vendors for sport, but clearly these guys need to be avoided now.

CBX1260 quoted exactly what they did to me on several occasions but what really burned me was their constant lying about things being shipped. And then, I get the item finally and the postmark was well after they told the lie. Something definitely happened to them because my first experiences were ok, except they could not keep up with long lists of parts at one time. I have used Parts n More, Peak Moto, Dark Horse Motorcycle Parts and Sirius Consolodated for more recent aftermarket parts. (have to watch Sirius shipping charges because they are Canadian)

Since that post was made, I deleted TAS from my list of places to do business with. I bought one (1) exhaust valve on ebay from them. Sent an e-mail and asked if I could buy 12 and wanted a price. They gave me a price break and I paid via PayPal.
I received six valves. I sent two e-mails and never go a response. Just before 30 days were over, I filed a claim with PayPal and ebay. Seller never responded in the time frame given. I got my money back from PayPal when I returned the valves.
They do too much business to even give a damn. Just look at their feedback. The few bad negatives are just disappearing among the hundreds of others.

My guess is that it will get worse for them and that the ebay rating will continue to fall. Did you give them the feedback that they well deserved?

Yes, they sell petcocks that they say will fit a CBX tank - well yes they do fit the tank, but they have a MUCH smaller "out" fitting for the gas-line than the CBX requires.
I wrote and told them about this, they stood firm saying their description was correct and continue to use the description in their ads, I resold the part on Ebay and copy and pasted their add into mine, explaining in big red font that I had been duped and buyer beware the part was only good for a 400cc engine - I was not reimbursed by the company, but the petcock did sell and I presume it worked on his 400cc because I got good feedback.

This made me feel a little better, and I should have known better than to try and get cheap CBX parts.
But it was irritating.

Just another tail of caution on TAS. Nov 6th I ordered 8 valve cover seals for my 1980 CBX on ebay. 10 days later the smaller seals for a 79 arrived. Called TAS and they told me to keep the 79's and they would send the larger 80 seals that day. Come the week of thanksgiving still no seals and since then I have been on the phone and e-mailing every week to see where my seals were. Promises of delivery and of giving me a tracking number were to no avail. Yesterday after 7 weeks I gave up and asked for a refund which they have posted to my PayPal account. I posted negative feedback on ebay which they responded by listing a tracking number (which the usps web site says does not exist) saying the seals were delivered which of course they have not. Mine was a $16 item so no big deal but something larger and there is greater risk. Caveat emptor.

Ross,
SORRY to hear of your misfortune with TAS

Means they are STILL up to their OLD tricks of the bait and switch/etc etc etc.

Wish there were enough of us CBX'rs to make them CORRECT their ways.

They are like a bad restaurant. Eventually, the customers will disappear and TAS will go out of business. Might be a slow process because they sell a lot more stuff other than CBX parts. However, others will go away and they will become defunct. I just hope the CBX club membership is wise.
