1979 CBX Seat Redone

Post by Want2ride »

This may be of interest for those with less than perfect bike seats. I recently bought a David Silvers seat cover and trim kit and had it professionally installed. The pictures below are what it looks like. I had a local motorcycle seat craftsman at Mr Ed's Custom Seats from Albany Oregon do the fitment. Personally I'm thrilled with the results and thought others might like to see how it turned out. Total cost about $300 but looks and feels brand new.

The seat turned out great.

Gotta ask, what's the story on the Bert Munro piston?

That piston was one that Burt made but wasn't ran. It was one of the later ones built at 82mm bore as Burt kept increasing engine size to 985cc in 1969. It came to me a few years back. As a gearhead, it is most definitely a prized item. This is a picture of the collection before it was put on public display in Hayes Hardware in Invercargill NZ. If in the area go see the display. Sorry about getting off topic on this....

My seat is perfect other than the metal strap fittings - both bent rusted and scratched. Anybody have a source just for those parts?
Cheers, Grant

I have a couple left from the DSS trim kit for a 79 model, I only needed the molding pieces. Assuming shipping is cheap you could have them.

PM me if you're interested.

Keith

Thank you, yes David sells a full kit. But all I need are the metal bands that wrap the strap... Looks like Keith64 might be able to help me out!

Good afternoon. Would you consider attaching a couple pictures of the left and right brackets mounted on the underside of your 79 seat? Mine are missing and I need a couple good pics to engineer some. Unless someone knows where I can source them? My efforts thus far have failed. Thank you in advance! Wendy
