Having an issue with the stops I got off Ebay. Which way do they go in the adjusters?? I'm wondering if they are the wrong stops

They look the correct ones, and only fit one way - on a standard swinging arm that is.

Every parts diagram I've seen doesn't show them. Which way do they fit towards the axle? Which side is the top? And which side goes towards the axle?

As Paul said, they fit in only one way, because the swingarm mouth is shaped to take them. Left or right does not matter, they are interchangeable.

So I was off by 1 link and the axle was to far back. I cut the link out and everything went together! Just got back from my first run around the block! Thanks for the help!

The other problem with converting a true '79 (which does not look like yours is) to a 530 chain is that the adjuster bolt and clevis is different. You will end up near the end of the stock '79 adjuster if you switch to a 530 chain with standard sprockets and a 102 link chain. But if yours is an '80, then it has the correct adjusters. Check the number of pins in your chain - should be 102.

If you have the adjusters on each side of the frame where the swingarm mounts then you have an 80 frame.
