I put a cent of classic attack tires on my 81,and so far I love them. The steering seems to be much crisper,almost like it has reduced the trail,even though if anything it may have slightly increased I. Can't wait to carve the roads in the Black Hills next month.

I have them on my W650. I could not tell much difference between them and the Bridgestone BT-45's as far as handling is concerned, but they sure do ride more smoothly. Much less impact from expansion joints and road irregularities. The radial construction, I presume.

What are the actual sizes you guys used? Would be nice to know.

The W650 uses the same sizes the '79 CBX would. 100/90-R19 front and 120/90-R18 rear.

I wish those tires were available for prolink rear, 130x90/18
I was looking into Michelin Pilot Active. Still not in correct size for rear at 130x80/18. Two things to consider though. It will lower the rear a bit so it will make it harder to put on a center stand and when on side stand, it will be more upright which possibly can be mitigated somewhat by adjusting my progressive rear shock. What makes me thinking though is how much it will raise RPM's at hwy speeds

Indeed it does, Sasha. It's approx 5/8 inch on radius. That 'little' difference is noticeable with both the center stand and the side stand. Been there, once. (Of necessity.) For anyone wanting to do the 'rithmetic for rpm, dias are approx 27.4 and 26.1. (90 vs 80)

I would like a bit of better tire than s11 so im just wondering how much adjustment i can make at the rear shock to compensate for the difference. I'll have to do some measurements first.
Do you know what was your rpm change on hwy speeds?

Using mm instead of inches: 130 x 0.9 = 117mm, 130 x 0.8 = 107mm. Adding the shoulder height to the radius of an 18" wheel, which is approx. 229mm, you have 346mm vs 333mm. Using the formula for circumference of 2¶r ( 2x 3.14 x radius), you have a 3.75% reduction in circumference, ergo a 3.75% increase in rpm at any speed.

Is anyone else using the Conti radials on their CBX? I've never been unhappy with my Avon RoadRiders but I have also had good experience with Conti tires and will probably give them a shot when the RoadRiders are ready for replacement. I haven't put a lot of miles on the Avons, but they'll be 5 years old after this season so I think they'll get swapped next spring before I do any 2018 riding.

It seems like the popular bias ply choices are Avon RoadRunner, Bridgestone BT-45, and Michelin Pilot Activ.

Are there good choices for radials in the vintage sizes other than the Conti Classic Attack?

I have Metzeler Lasertec on the CBX and BT-45s on my GS1150E...I can't say the the Metzeler are any better or worse than the BT-45's, I feel more confident with the BT-45s but then the GS is a better handling bike ...most of my friends prefer BT-45s...
