Is the gearsets from a later model identical in all respects to the '79 or are there concerns I should have using it?
Thanks for any input :D

Tranny differences.........

Post by sr71cbx »

Land Shark,
If I'm not mistaken, the gear clusters/shift forks/shift drums should all be the same thru the entire 4-year production run and should be interchangeable.
Hope this helps,if someone knows different, correct me if I'm wrong.
Take care & ride safe,

Yes, MarK! Tranny is the same on all 4 models. 8) Same primary drive ratio, same internal ratios and even same final drive ratio. :!:

Thanks guys I appreciate the info. The only reason I'm contemplating using a tranny with lower mileage is because the countershaft bearing doesn't seem to be replaceable and it would be cost prohibitive to purchase the entire shaft as opposed to a good used entire assembly.
