Here's one done to the customer's taste. Photos weren't taken to highlight the stripes so....
I think he charged $150. Tank, seat tail and a little on both side covers.

If you want a custom pin stripe, you can do anything you want.

Twenty years ago, I brought Danny Taylor to my shop for a day of stripping peoples hot rods, bikes, whatever.
I witnessed him paint lines about 1mm wide then, sign his name within it, in paint!
IMO, one of the world's best.

Thanks, yes an Amen frame. The fender is a rear fender
from a 1966 cb450. Lots of hand built aluminum parts,
it's my idea of a tribute to early dry lake and Bonneville
racers.

the pinstriper who did my BMWs didn't even want to do this. He said to use decals and clearcoat over them.
I completely understand why people use decals especially if you are doing a factory original
paint job, nothing wrong with that.
Watching a talented pinstriper is like poetry in motion.
Before decals were invented cars, trucks and even tractors were hand lettered and pinstriped.
An old pinstriper once told me " using decals is like
putting a bumper sticker on a Ferrari ".

Let's be clear here. I wish someone offered the original style water transfer decals that Honda used. Just like the ones that came with plastic models when we were kids. They were very thin and easy to clearcoat over.
Unlike the "stickers" (that some folks call decals) available now that are so thick you might have to clear and block sand several times to achieve the same look decals on the first coat.
I wish Danny Taylor was closer to me. He'd be doing all my work.

I have a couple sets of the tank OEM water transfer decals, people shied away from them because they could be difficult to apply if you didn’t know what you were doing and started using the stickers instead.
I’d be willing to sell a set, I’ll never use the extra decals I have, better someone get some use out of them. Actually JR I think I offered you a set when you posted a wanted post on the CB1100F site but you had already found some!

Finding a quality pin stripper is what I would find a challenge, it's not as if there's a lot of them still around.

JR - Danny Taylor did my white BMW stripes 4 years ago. Excellent job. I found a guy closer and just as good or better at hand striping. He's in Wauseon, OH - not that far from you. I'll send you some pics of his work, but it's the best!

The previous owner of my 80 CBX had the painter put hand-painted double pinstripes on the top of the tank and tailpiece.
They look really well done and blend in nicely.
The sides are a solid color but I'd like to add pinstripe decals on the sides without lacquering because I want to be able to remove them
and lacquering might ruin an expensive paint job.
I'll add some pics later.

Thanks, it looks a bit like a Bimota Honda CBX and gets lots of attention, but I might trade it for a smaller bike in a few years.
