Hello Dudes...Started off gangbusters on my 82 restoration 1 yr ago. Have engine out and need to paint it but damn, this thing is more work than expected. How do you guys stay motivated to complete to complete these projects. I realize this is a stupid/retarded question but just had a couple brews and just venting.
My goal is to have this thing done for 2016 Barber Vintage Festival.

Welcome to the site, Phil.
I've got a '79 project that i haven't put a wrench to in 5 years so i am the wrong guy to ask about motivation.
The carbs look great.

To the group Phil.
Motivation? sorry never heard of it.
I took the air filters off the X with the "intent" of pulling the carbs for cleaning 2 months ago. Still sitting there waiting.
Whew, this internet stuff is tiring, I think I need a nap.

Meh, a bit old topic, but I will chime in.
My motivation? I know what i want before I even start, don't know what to say other than that. I get it and just push hard cause is what I want to do.

Motivation..hmmmm! Weighs more than any job you pick up! It's like getting the rocket off the ground..

Re: 1982 restoration motivation
I discipline myself to do one thing each day (sometimes more on the weekends) but always one thing on my hobby projects. No matter how small the thing done, IT IS NOW DONE. Ordering that 1 part stalling progress, creating an ebay search for that hard to find accessory, ordering up some materials, clearing a bench, cleaning a part, saving an oem cable until finances allow a NOS one to replace it............. WHATEVER it is its now DONE.
Waiting on motivation is a death blow to progress
