Rust on Exhaust System

Rust on Exhaust System
I'm cleaning up a stock exhaust system that has a lot of corroision present. After several hours of rubbing with NeverDul wadding and Turtle Wax Chrome polish I've eliminated most of the surface blemishes. What remains is heavier and rough (see attached pictures). Anyone have any suggestions on how this might be address?
I twist the throttle just to hear the six sing.

You got some mighty heavy rust on those pipes.
