Cam Chain A Guide

Post by hcbx1047 »

Needing some help in identifying a cam chain A guide. On the left is the A guide I pulled from an 81 motor. It has a fair amount of hairline cracks. On the right is a guide I had in my stash. It looks very good overall and I want to use it. BUT;

1. As you can see, the one that came out has a higher metal side rail to it. The 'spare' does not.
2. I looked up the parts numbers for all four years, and they are the same.

So, has anybody else come across this? Is the one I pulled out an upgrade, or is the 'spare' not even from a CBX, despite the dimensions being exactly like the one I pulled out? TIA!

I think it's just a different version of the same part number. There were minor cosmetic differences in the various years' tensioners.
