1979 Honda CBX. Just had all new valves (24) installed in the head. Now I am reassembling the valve train after properly torquing down the head. While I am fairly certain that I have the camshafts id as Exhaust and Intake for cylinders 1,2 and 3.
On inspection the two cams look remarkably the same.. Just want to ensure I have them installed correctly.
Question: Is there a positive way to identify the exhaust from the intake cam on that side of the motor?

They are stamped EX-L and IN-L. It's hard to see the stampings- they are in the recesses next to the cam lobes.

Make certain that when you are all none and ready to button it up that the left and right cams are opposite of each other.

Example: #1 lobes pointing to the spark plug, while #6 lobes pointing away.

There was an error in the early manuals that didn't cover this and MANY folks experienced cam chain (and other) damage within a short time of running.

Great! will look for the id stamping and for sure will check out the lobe positions.
