Oil Leak Upper Oil Gallery

Post by Watchfuleye »

1979 CBX

Oil Leaking from the upper oil gallery hex bolt. Oil leak is pretty bad.
Unsure about tightening this bolt.
Could it simply be the need for a new O Ring?
Any idea where I can pick up a new bolt, I live in Canada.

Any help greatly appreciated

Which bolt are you actually talking about? The allen head oil galley plug?

Yes that is the one. Upon closer inspection I noticed a crack on the inside of the plug.

Any suggestions where I can purchase one.

Thanks again

They are difficult to obtain.
Might have to look into a repair and a new o-ring.

Depending upon the nature of the crack, some J-B weld might do the job.

Hi,

You can get replica plugs. So in Europe:

https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cbx1000-sup ... 40422000p/

SixCenter.NL also has them.

Would expect the CBX specialists in the US would also have them.

Paul.

As always, Louis Mintrone at usedcbxparts.com might be less expensive and quicker. Personally, I'd try there first.
